Top ten poorest countries in the world

Many people may feel that their belts had to be tightened considerably by the economic crisis, but it could all be worse. Compared to other countries, we Dutch are still doing quite well. Research by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) recently revealed which countries will be the poorest in the world in 2020 and 2021 on the basis of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) linked to purchasing power per capita. The list is the result of thorough research, but based on figures that the IMF has managed to obtain.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo was declared the poorest country in the world with a purchasing power of $ 347 per capita. Not really big news, because this has been the case for years. Liberia follows Congo with $ 416 and Burundi with 430 is in third place. Africa is clearly emerging as the world's poorest continent as Zimbabwe, Eritrea, the Central African Republic, Niger, Sierra Leone, Malawi and Togo complete the list of the top ten poorest countries in the world. After Africa, certain parts of Asia do not seem to have an easy time either, but unlike Africa, Asia is making faster progress.
