Which municipality is the most expensive in the Netherlands?

Are the most expensive houses in Gooise Laren? And where is it just cheap living? The figures on this were recently published on the Woningmarktcijfers.nl website. This site examined the prices of all municipalities in our country on the basis of the actual purchase price data from the Land Registry.

In Blaricum, buyers had to pay the most money for an owner-occupied home in 2020. Last year they paid an average of about 775,000 US dollars for an existing owner-occupied home. This means that Blaricum is the most expensive residential municipality in the Netherlands in 2020. That is no different from the year before, even then this place was the most expensive residential municipality in our country. Bloemendaal is in second place with US $ 698,000 and Wassenaar, near The Hague, follows with US $ 592,000. The average purchase price rose in all other top ten municipalities, with the exception of Laren. Despite the economic crisis, the number of homes sold with a purchase price above 1 million US dollar increased significantly last year. About 700 more villas were sold than the year before. In 2008 this number was barely at 1200.

The municipality of Pekela is again the cheapest residential municipality in the Netherlands in 2020 with an average of 133,000 US dollars. Followed by De Marne and Kerkrade with 136,800 and 138,300 US dollars respectively. In the Frisian municipality of Het Bildt, the average purchase price fell the most by about 18.5%.
