CEVA Logistics relies on its expertise in customs clearance to offer its customers a new method of delivering transport solutions through the port of Alashankou using customs supervision codes 9710 and 9810 eCommerce. CEVA was the first company to use the codes at the Alashankou border post during two pilot expeditions in July.

The northwest China’s port borders Kazakhstan and has recently opened up for exports using codes designed for companies engaged in e-commerce activities. Previously, only goods with general customs clearance were allowed to pass through the port. In response to this change, CEVA Logistics delivered two pilot shipments for customers using the new customs codes 9710 and 9810.

The first shipment of nearly 9,000 packages left Shenzhen, China, to Frankfurt, Germany, with a door-to-door transit time of 20 days. CEVA used its multimodal TRT (Truck-Rail-Truck) solution for this pilot shipment with code 9810. The second shipment of over 400 higher value packages was consolidated using customs supervision codes 9710 and 9810. CEVA also used its international trucking solution for the second pilot expedition. The truck left Shenzhen, China, and 16 days later delivered the packages to the customer’s UK warehouse for final distribution.

Customs declaration code 9710 is described as “Cross-border e-commerce B2B direct export” and applies to goods directly exported by sellers on a cross-border e-commerce sales platform; while goods of code 9810 are exported by sellers requesting export goods from cross-border e-commerce to international warehouses. The codes are intended to help Chinese small and medium-sized enterprises participate in international trade and more easily develop their international and cross-border businesses.

CEVA Logistics continues to develop land, full train or multimodal transport options between China and Europe to meet the growing need to balance delivery times, costs and more environmentally friendly transport.

According to Jessica Herren, world leader in customs brokerage, CEVA Logistics: “At CEVA Logistics, our goal is to facilitate international trade. We are exploring new routes and transit methods to reduce transit time, but on top of that, we have the necessary customs clearance experts to help our customers expand internationally. Our expertise allows our customers to focus on their core business and leave the customs clearance to us. E-commerce will continue to be an important area of growth, and we are exploring and launching new cross-border e-commerce solutions, even at the parcel level, to deliver even more value to our global customers.
