North Yorkshire Farm Online Shop celebrates first anniversary

Cooks Larder, a North Yorkshire-based online farm shop, is celebrating its first anniversary since launching on September 21, 2020 amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

When Jamie and Ros Randall founded Cooks pantry in Kirkbymoorside, they set out to make the food and drink they source from local farmers, producers and artisans easily accessible to Yorkshires.

Their primary goal for the business is to be an excellent source of delicious local produce. Their on-farm online store gives people access to quality produce available across the region, delivered weekly.

And in doing so, they help support local farmers and producers.

Reflecting on a first year on the roller coaster, Jamie said: “Covid challenged everyone a lot last year.

“We hope we have provided a way to make everyone’s life a little easier and more enjoyable.

“In our first year, we onboarded over 90 UK suppliers and added over 700 individual products to our website.

“Of these, 70% come directly from Yorkshire. So we hope our story is good for the local community. “

The couple, along with their young daughter, returned to Yorkshire after 12 years in Sydney, Australia, and with them, they brought a new perspective on food and drink.

Ros said: “In this world where vegetables are available all year round, we have tried to keep them seasonal and local, which is more sustainable, tastier and cuts down on carbonaceous food miles. Our aim is to support our UK farmers and educate our customers on what’s in season as well as provide inspiring recipes.
