The Stamping Bug gift shop will close in October after their lease has not been renewed by the owner. The Somerset company has been based at its current location at Wragg St for 24 years and will be opening a new online store once it closes for the last time later this year. Owned by mother-daughter duo Yvonne and Liesa Jagiello, the gift shop has grown from a small home-based business to a popular store for people across the country. “Originally Liesa was trained as a florist and we thought we would like to do that and combine a few gift lines, but then her life took another direction,†said Yvonne. “I had a year off after quitting a 20 year job at TAFE and just started making cards as a hobby and got hooked. A little too big.†This store was empty. for six months or more, so I came to review it and decided to make it a little business. they had built with their loyal customers. “I guess sharing the ups and downs of life with people (was a highlight),†she said. “We mentioned in our exit statement (on Facebook) that when we first opened we had mothers with these little babies and young children and now these little children are coming with their own families.” to see these generations pass. “You can share these happy and sad times with so many people.” Yvonne said she enjoyed seeing trends and styles change over time. “I have enjoyed over the years to see the trends and styles of the gift lines change and how stamping has mixed with scrapbooking and scrapbooks has become a huge thing.†We have expanded to include these products. “It has kept things interesting and you are always learning something new.†It is not a stagnant industry. “While the online store will be up and running soon, the idea germinated last year.†We started talking about it and building it around September after COVID and the continued threat of lockdown, “said Yvonne.” We get a lot of tourists from the mainland and everyone was always saying ‘we wish you had a site. “Originally Liesa was trained as a florist and we thought we would like to do that and combine a few gift lines, but then her life took another direction,†said Yvonne.

“I was running classes and just running a little home business and it got a little too big.
“This store had been empty for six months or more, so I came to look at it and decided to make it a small business.
“It just grew from there.”
Liesa said one of the best things about this job is the relationships they’ve built with their loyal customers.
“I guess sharing the ups and downs of life with people (was a highlight),†she said.
