DETROIT — Game 2 of the four-weekend series between the Guardians and Tigers Friday night at Comerica Park was postponed before the first pitch due to poor weather in the area.

It will be composed July 4 in Detroit in a split doubleheader, with Game 1’s first pitch set for 1:10 p.m. ET and Game 2 scheduled to start at 6:40 p.m. Shane Bieber, who was originally scheduled to start on Friday, will now start Saturday’s game at 4:10 p.m. Triston McKenzie will also move back a day and start the series finale at 1:10 p.m. Sunday.

Bieber entered Friday with a 1-3 record and 3.55 ERA and is coming off one of his best starts of the season, a gem of 10 strikeouts in which he allowed three runs (two deserved) in seven innings. McKenzie, who is 3-3 with a 2.70 ERA, has four quality starts in four tries in May, most recently the best seven-inning streak of the season. He is 3-1 with a 2.05 ERA in May.

The Tigers will send rookie Alex Faedo to the mound against Bieber on Saturday. Elvin Rodriguez, with just one career start under his belt, will pitch on Sunday.

The Guardians have lost three straight and nine of 12. They’re looking to turn the tide and end the current road trip — a seven-day swing through Houston and Detroit — on a high.
