WDW Stats then tweeted that Tom Sawyer Island was officially closed to guests around 6:01 pm:

Reports claim the island was evacuated and guests said they saw a significant security presence in the area.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office recorded a suspicious person report at Caribbean Way in Magic Kingdom around 5:48 p.m. ET, according to the official OCSO mobile app.

Some reports claim that a man was allegedly “Dressed in camouflage” and holding a “hatchet”, which led to the evacuation of Tom Sawyer Island. However, there is not official confirmation or other details regarding this incident. At the moment there is no reports of injured people.

This ‘apparent incident’ sparked much discussion in annual pass holder groups on Facebook, with many Disney fans confused about the situation and wanting to know what exactly happened to cause the evacuation. . Many wonder if the reported “hatchet” was real or fake.
