Vehicles and oil contribute to the big month of imports

0

In July 2021, vehicle and petroleum imports rose sharply, leading to a significant increase in the total value of imports, Stats NZ said today.

Total merchandise imports for July 2021 increased $ 1.6 billion (35%) from July 2020 to reach $ 6.2 billion. Vehicles, parts and accessories contributed the most to the increase, up $ 555 million to $ 919 million.

This sharp increase in vehicle imports is in part due to the fact that July 2020 has the lowest value of vehicle imports for any month of July in the past decade.
